Behobia–San Sebastián 2026 by public transport
How to reach the start, where to go if you are cheering, and which buses are not running on Sunday. To find the right train from your town, ask Nora on WhatsApp, in your language, even by voice message.
Runners: getting to the start
- Train, then shuttle bus: Euskotren to Ficoba-Irun station, or Renfe local trains (Cercanías) to Irun (Paseo de Colón). The organisers run shuttle buses from both stations.
- For the shuttle you need your race number and a paper train ticket (the Mugi card is not valid). The organisers sell runners a special €2 train + shuttle ticket: at the Pío Baroja sports centre until Saturday, at the Kursaal on Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday at Euskotren’s Amara and Anoeta stations (expect queues).
- Euskotren: line E2 runs every 10-15 minutes between Amara and Hendaye; from Zumaia there are two direct trains to Ficoba, at 7:42 and 8:42.
- If you live on Renfe line C1 (Brinkola, Zumarraga, Beasain, Tolosa, Andoain, Hernani, Donostia, Pasaia, Errenteria), you reach Irun without changing trains.
- On foot: 2.1 km from Ficoba and 2.5 km from Renfe Irun.
- Special Lurraldebus buses: from Pasai San Pedro and Pasai Donibane at 8:00, and from Errenteria at 8:10 (with Mugi; without it, €2.75).
- From the French Basque Country, Txik Txak buses to Béhobie: from Hendaye (Grande Plage) at 8:00, 8:45, 9:35 and 10:25; from Bayonne and Saint-Jean-de-Luz, line 3 then line 4 (€1.20).
Where the start is
The start (km 0) is on Juan Thalamas Labandibar street in Azkenportu (Irun), on the straight along the Bidasoa river, opposite Pheasant Island. Each group lines up behind its banner, eastwards, up to the roundabout at the international bridge in the Behobia neighbourhood, where the shuttles drop off. It is not the Santiago bridge, which is next to Ficoba. The bag drop is at ZAISA III (N-121-A).
Supporters and spectators
The organisers ask supporters not to go to the start. Watch the race along the course or at the finish, on the Alameda del Boulevard in San Sebastián (Donostia). To get there, Euskotren to Amara or Renfe to Donostia.
Buses that change on Sunday
- Irunbus: lines L1 and L2 do not run from about 7:30 to 13:00, and L1 does not reach Behobia until 14:00. L3 (Arbes–Artía) and L4 (Arbes–Olaberria) run a short loop every 30 minutes.
- Lurraldebus (Ekialdebus): many stops closed in Irun, Oiartzun, Errenteria, Pasaia and Donostia, roughly from 8:00 to 15:30. In Donostia, the OR lines end at Miracruz or at the Renfe station. If you can, take the train: it does not depend on road closures.
- Lurraldebus (TBH, the Andoain and Hernani lines): from 5:05 to 17:05 they do not stop on Okendo street in San Sebastián; the BU05 starts and ends at Zubieta Plaza, the BU11 at Urbieta 38, and the BU12 and BU13 at Urbieta 28.
- Dbus (San Sebastián), roughly 7:00 to 17:00: the lines that end in the city centre do not reach the Boulevard or Plaza Gipuzkoa; depending on the line, they end on Okendo street, on Urbieta, on Etxaide street or at Avenida de la Libertad 3. From 9:40 to 14:30, while the race goes past, there are no buses via Alto de Miracruz, Ulia, Jesuitas or Mariaren Bihotza, nor via Buenavista and Molinao, and line 37 does not serve Rodil until 15:00. After the race, free buses to Anoeta for runners from Avenida de la Libertad 14.
Getting back from the finish
Euskotren from Amara-Donostia or Renfe from Donostia station. Ask Nora for the next one to your town.
